Win-Eldrich Mines’ Update on Ashdown Project (Recap)

Win-Eldrich Mines Limited, a mining exploration and development company, announces that it has been advised by Golden Phoenix Minerals, Inc. of the sale of the first consignment of molybdenite concentrates produced at the Ashdown mine and mill. The mine is owned by Ashdown Project LLC, a Nevada company owned jointly by Win-Eldrich's wholly-owned subsidiary, Win-Eldrich Gold, Inc. and by Golden Phoenix. Golden Phoenix acts as interim operator under contract to the LLC. The sale of more than 14,000 pounds of concentrates was completed with Derek Raphael and Company of London, England for proceeds of approximately US$175,000. Under the terms of the sale agreement, 90% of the proceeds have been paid to Ashdown Project LLC with the balance to be paid when all final weights, assays and prices are known. The sale confirms Ashdown as the world's newest molybdenum mine to commence operation and commences the next phase of development during which output from the mine and throughput at the mill are intended to be increased from the current 30-ton per day average mine output to 100-ton per day capacity. As part of that effort, Golden Phoenix advises that underground crews are driving drift on a second series of raises, stopes and working faces. It is intended that mill efficiency will be enhanced as increased output from the mine develops. The mill which had been closed for the holidays has resumed operation following installation of an upgraded gear drive for the primary belt feeder. Golden Phoenix has also advised of its intent to dilute Win-Eldrich Gold's interest in Ashdown Project, LLC from 40% to 30.5% pursuant to an alleged default by Win-Eldrich Gold in making a payment which Golden Phoenix alleges is in the amount of US $309,391. Win-Eldrich disagrees with Golden Phoenix's allegation that Win-Eldrich Gold is in default under the agreements governing the LLC and disagrees with the amount claimed by Golden Phoenix. While optimistic that the matter will be resolved by the parties, Win-Eldrich intends to vigorously oppose any attempt to dilute its interest in Ashdown Project, LLC.

The Great Basin College campuses will hold a seminar to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and to help advise them on ways they can afford college. Current college students and high school seniors are encouraged to attend. The event begins at 2PM on January 28th in the High Tech Center in the Winnemucca Center on Kluncy Canyon Road. The FAFSA is a mandatory step in securing financial aid. The federal government uses the application to determine students' and their parents' expected contribution and how much money they are eligible to receive toward their education. Financial aid can come in the form of need-based grants and federally backed student loans. Volunteers from the colleges' student services and academic affairs offices will be available to walk students and their parents through the forms. Lynn Mahlberg, GBC's vice president for student services, said the seminar will also connect students with the financial aid officers they'll be working with. College Goal Sunday is based on a program established by the Lumina Foundation for Education, a private foundation based in Indianapolis. It has been successfully implemented in Indiana, Arizona and now Nevada to help improve access to higher education. The state of Nevada applied for and received a $170,000 grant from the Lumina Foundation to host College Goal Sundays for the next three years, always either right before or after the Super Bowl. GBC's Mahlberg and Jeanne Rosenthal, GBC's grants coordinator, led the effort in Nevada. Mahlberg said students should apply for a personal identification number to fill out the FAFSA application online in advance by visiting www.pin.ed.gov, but students can also fill out a paper application at the sites. If under 23, students should bring their parents along with a copy of their 2005 income tax information for both student and parents. Students 24 and older only need their own tax information. For more information, visit the college Web site at www.gbcnv.edu and click on the College Goal Sunday link. In Winnemucca please call 623-4824.
